'He deserves better': Man pleads his spouse to adopt a doggo, but after bringing him home, he realizes he's "not a dog person" and wants to give the poor pupper away

The only thing worse than adopting a dog and not being able to keep it, is adopting a dog and then not wanting to keep it.

How many times must we say it before y'all get it through your heads? Dogs are a lot of work. They are absolutely worth all of the work that they require, but if you want a low-maintenance and cleaner animal, get a teacup pig or a cat. Dogs get dirty. They roll in the mud. They eat trash on the street. They shed all year round. You have to take these things into account when you're thinking of adopting one.

In our post today, you'll find a pawfect example of someone who was unprepared for the realities of living with a dog before getting one, and now the dog is paying the price. They begged their spouse to adopt a dog, but as soon as they got it, they realized they didn't like it. They didn't like the fur everywhere, the training, or even the quality time you're supposed to enjoy with the dog. So now, they have to rehome the dog, and we only feel sorry for this poor pupper who didn't do anything wrong except be a normal dog.

Dogs are a huge commitment that will change your life. You'll wake up early every day for a few years, have to schedule around 2-3 hours a day for walks and playtime, but in return, you get the most loyal friend you've ever had. One who's always happy to see you when you come home, and just wants to be next to you, even while they're sleeping. This doggo disaster is one we hope never gets repeated.

This description sounds like a perfectly normal, but untrained, dog. The good thing about dogs is that they are relatively easy to train! You can teach them how to be the best boys pawssible, but you have to put in the work to get there. Nothing good in life comes for free!

This person is right, they definitely shouldn't keep the dog. Doggos are sensitive and can sense when something is wrong. They'll never build a loving, trustworthy relationship this way, so it's best to just cut your losses and move on. We're just sorry that the dog is the one who has to get the short end of the stick here, especially when it wasn't his fault.
